Lead for Strong Communities

SEIU becomes the leading force for opportunity, meaningful jobs, and better living standards for all working people, public sector and private sector.
 
In 20 years:

• SEIU will be a leader for good jobs, affordable quality health care, and retirement with dignity for everyone.
  
  
• Corporate buyout firms and other large corporations will pay their fare share of taxes.
  
  
• We will win a universal portable pension system for public services workers that will be a model for the private sector. Public sector pension funds will invest in a responsible way to strengthen public services and generate revenues to ensure our secure retirement.  

Our four-year plan:

• Affordable, quality healthcare for all. Support state and federal action for a national healthcare plan.
  
  
• Retirement security. Ensure retirement with dignity for more people by becoming actively engaged in public policy changes and public sector pension investment policy.
  
  
• Fair funding of services.  Develop a national strategy for fair funding of quality services.  Ensure that everyone pays their fair share--especially big corporations and the wealthy.  Develop local experiments for full funding of needed services.Workers’ rights.  Pass legislation to make it easier for workers in both the private and public sectors to form unions. Maintain standards of conduct and quality for employers including responsible contractor requirements and the Employee Free Choice Act.
  
  
• Immigration reform.  Involve SEIU members who are on the frontlines of delivering public services for immigrants in a dialogue and action strategy on these issues.
