Blurring of Public and Private Sectors -- as more jobs are in organizations that are publicly funded but privately operated, government is sometimes becoming an arranger of services instead of a provider of services.

Population of South/Southwest on the Rise -- and with it, business investment and political power are moving to an area where most public employees have no union bargaining rights.

Baby Boomers Retire -- huge demographic changes will influence the public sector workforce, the demand for our services, and our capacity to deliver quality public services with highly trained workers.

Union Density has remained flat -- Despite SEIU's growth, private sector unions are below 8 percent of the the workforce, which means we cannot rely on their strength, or their support.  Declines in private sector labor influence attitudes about health care and pension plans:
