Lead for Quality Services

SEIU becomes the leading organization for quality public services, nationally and in each state and community.

In 20 years:

  • SEIU members will be the leaders in delivering well-funded, high-quality, innovative public services.

  • Members will be highly skilled workers prepared for the work of the 21st Century.

  • The community of public sector workers will speak with a unified voice for high-quality public services -- within SEIU and with other public sector unions.

Our four-year plan:

  • Develop and share our expertise in improving the quality of services.  Build a national team of public service and funding experts to help advise SEIU in its work.

  • Develop models for quality.  Carry out pilot innovations that improve the quality of services and increase public support.   Build local union capacity through member service centers to involve members in efforts to improve quality.

  • Use our strength for quality.  Use our bargaining and political strength to advance quality public services by setting standards for effectiveness, cost, access, public health, and safety.  Involve members, community allies and public officials in this effort. Amplify the voice of members to raise public awareness about the effectiveness of SEIU public service workers in improving quality.

  • Train for quality. Work with employers to develop the future workforce by training members for public service work of the 21st Century.

  • Partner for quality. Partner with public managers, public officials, and other public service unions to improve services and provide a stronger voice for workers.
